You must feel guilty.... you could have fulfilled the promise made to your friend. Learn to keep the mouth shut... sometimes

You shouldn't have betrayed his trust. HOWEVER, it also depends on the seriousness of it all. How bad was it? If it was so bad that he needed to go to a military school -- sounds like it may have been a crime of some kind. If it was, and if you knew something without telling anyone, you could have been involved just having the knowledge. Criminals almost always get caught because they tell people what they did. You shouldn't have been put in that position of even knowing.

Yes, you should feel guilty because you go to another person and gives something that is thrusted you.

If you on the other hand goes to the parents and tell the truth, because you are sure this will help your friend in the long run, then you have done something good and can be proud of yourself!

It depends on what he did, and who it effected. If it caused material damage and cost someone else to put right, if it hurt someone physically, emotionally or spiritually and cost the affected person in time or money to put right, or if it caused society problems, which costs all taxpayers and non taxpayers, to put right, you should not feel guilty.

If someone does wrong, and then confides in someone else, they are effectively placing the blame for what they have done, on that person, as if they then condone it by not telling anyone or the authorities, the person who has done the wrong, then feel what they did is all right, even if they knew it was wrong when they did it.

Don't feel guilty, you should be proud to be a socially responsible person.

Yeah, you can. You just don't have the moral fiber or the integrity to do so. If someone trusts you with a confidence and you betray that trust, then I would hope they do not trust you again.

Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.

Children these days have a habit of saying "they can't help it" because they're used to seeing adults with the same attitude. That frame of mind is lazy and just one more way of rationalizing doing the wrong thing.

In a way yes you should feel guilty. Your friend trusted YOU, not to tell anyone his secret. But I also know how you feel about just having to tell someone. When someone tells me things that I just have to tell someone,I call and tell my mother. I know it wont go anywhere else. Then I feel better because I got it out. But I agree, if it saved his life or his future then no you shouldnt feel guilty.

Yes you should feel guilty and ashamed of yourself. I am sure there would have been a better way of letting your friend parents figure out what he did, from him as opposed to other people. Apologize to your friend for what you did because to me this is not being a friend is all about.

.... you should already know the answer... because you ask this question only to be reassured on your acts....

If someone tell you a secret... you must keep it inside... and if you think that his behaviours is not good... you'd better help him to be good (this is a real friendship behaviour...), than tell this bad thing to someone else... (this is a "juda" behaviour for you friend).

You know, military is not death... it will perhaps help him !!! who know.... Perhaps you should join him on this military camp to became a right people... with your friend...?? (no it's just a joke...)

THE REAL IMPORTANT QUESTION FOR NOW IS :

HOW CAN I REPAIR THIS ??? this would perhaps be the only one question you need to answer !!!!....

you will have enough time to be guilty later... if you don't find the right good solution for the situation...

So good luck on your investigations...an research...

bye.. take care

Everything happens for a reason//

maybe something worse would have happened to your friend if his parent had not found out...most will think you are a bad friend...but do not be so hard on yourself...ask your friend for forgiveness and move on !

Guilt will do nothing for you. Learn from your mistake -- if someone confides in you -- keep it to yourself unless the secret would bring harm to that person. I'd write an apology note to your friend if you can.
