Make sure it is topped-up with oil.
Make sure it has the correct amount of fresh coolant with corrosion inhibitors.
Make sure the brake fluid is fresh, has no moisture content.
Take the car for a half-hour drive to ensure everything is correctly lubricated.
Make sure the car is perfectly dry, and that the garage you will be using is dry.
Then put the car on axle stands to prevent flat-spotting the tyres.
Do not apply the parking brake.

If possible spray anything that might corrode with oil or a moisture dispersant such as WD-40.

If you can, give the car a half-hour run every month or so (to keep everything lubricated).

Just wash it and put it away. Unless its some sort of classic car there's no need to go to great lengths. Leave a window partially open. You might want to invest in one of those nice chargers ( Optimate?) to keep the battery topped up. A car is an inanimate object and doesn't know whether it has been garaged for 10 years or 10 minutes.

Remember to check all the usual stuff - tyre pressure, oil, brakes etc- before using it again though.

put the car in the garage and jack it up off the floor. if the runs put some marvels mystery oil in it and run it for a bit but leave the oil in it. also get some fuel stabilizer and put it in the tank run it so it mixes in your total fuel system. finally make sure u put antifreeze in the engine not just water and maybe some moth balls in the car and trunk to keep out the critters.

You need to drain all the fluids.. I left a 94 blazer sitting and the heads ended up rotting out from the coolant sitting. At the very least you need to start it at least once a month and let it run till it hits normal operating temp.
