What do you think is happening with Real Madrid? I mean, I agree with Luis Figo, its turning into a circus. I loved the side that played in 2000-2002, the last transfer I agred with was the signing on of Zidane. Don't know why they took off Makalele and then they brought in Ronaldo, and the biggest mistake of all... Beckham for Figo? Come on.. I don't mind Canavaro, but Van Nistelroy? Jeez.. Sorry to say.. Real Madrid WAS my team!

Hey there... Jaws, Erri and Lilrevuse.. I HEAR U! I mean , I kno I sound like a fickle fan, but I've stuck with Real Madrid for 6 years running. Just sad to dee them go through year after year without a Champions Trophy.. and to see good players go. But I guess that's football.. and that'd how the system works. So, thanks. I say.. GO REAL MADRID! Thanks Guys!!!

I'm Italian and Juventus' fan, besides 'serie B' relegation ... Of course, I'm always a fan... and I'm amazed with your perspective. ;-)
I guess 'rimrocka' has efficeintly explained your feelings: "a team of champions does not necessarily equate to a champion team."
This is exactly what I think about 2006 WC Brazil (great bunch of champions well fitted for a commercial and not at all a TEAM) and Italian Internazionale Milano (Inter: President Moratti wasted huge LOTS of money - hired great champions to discard them, and they will switch their performance from 'poor' to 'impressive', check Roberto Carlos as well as many other - hired great coaches to discard them, my best pick is LIPPI).
Brazil and Inter are really different. Coach Parreira was the main actor in Brazil defeat and he really deserve to be blamed. He was forced by high pessure from crowd and media to play with an amazing unbalanced formation, having Kaka, Ronaldinho, Adriano, Ronaldo playing together, with only Emerson and Ze Roberto to cover a slow defenders line.
President Moratti is loved form Inter's fans. A fan can blame coaches, players, unlucky events, but he loves his President. To me this is a sturdy attitude, because Moratti always fails in having a strong MANAGEMENT to direct the team.
Now, why is your perspective stunning me?
First, I'm a Juventus' fan and I'm highly concerned with relegation and the needs to sell champions because their wages couldn't be payed.
Second, a great team starts from the coach, and Real Madrid choose well. You - as well as mine, and Roma's fan and Milan's fans - well know Capello's style. He doesn't like entertaining football, his task is TO WIN and he is a full team manager, suggesting his best picks for an unbeatable line-up to owners.
Third, Real Madrid management allows Capello to switch line-up as he likes. And his first picks are perfectly fitted to enforce the team (Cannavaro - oops - the world best defender - and Emerson - great defensive midfielder). Van Nistelrooy is a great forward and perfectly fits in Capello's favorite 4-4-2 with a powerful center forward, tall and heavy, able to take the ball allowing teammates to run up, with great head on high balls.
So my opinion is: stay on Real's side. Capello is the best transfer and quickly you will enjoy their performances ;-)

I am sorry Sushibabes, but saying that Real madrid "WAS" your team makes you seem to be a glory hunting plastic fan - if you support a team, you follow them through thick and thin (the good times and the bad times) - I do not mean to be insulting (so sorry if this comes across that way), but if Real really are your team, then stick with them as I am sure the good times will come back. Don't change your colours for the likes of Chelsea just because they are now a successful team.
Sushiebabe - glad to hear you will stick with them - I support Spurs in the EPL and have gone through many painful years, with our great rivals dominating us, but we are slowly turning things around. Real have bags of money, and have appointed an excellent coach - it won't be long until you get back to those winning ways.

There are too many egos in that team. They need a good defence which they will get with Cannavaro. They need a partner for Raul up front, and maybe Van Nisteroy will be it, but I think Real needs someone young to partner up with Raul, and then maybe Raul can mold him to be the star player that Raul is. By the way, in good times and bad times, Real Madrid will always be my team!!

yeah! i agree with you.. since real madrid brought beckham the club became a disaster ! they won nothing! and they kept losing in front of barca and being eliminated in champions league from less important teams with pratically no stars (remember OL's episode?)
at least with ronaldo, they have won the ligua !!
what they need is not great old players, they need young talented players to start their carrer with the team not finish it with them !

Van Nistelrooy is still a very good striker although he was having his tough time for the past few months. I think with the new club he is in, he will return to his form if they give him a place in the starting eleven...

Mangement at berbeau need to recognise that a team of champions does not necessarily equate to a champion team. Every team needs to have their starpower, but they also need role players who dont mind playing the supporting cast and whose egoes arent bigger than their football skills.

they put all of the "stars" together and that's why they can't play good.
zidane has no idea and beckham even less
sure canavarro will be great, but NO van nistelrooy. i don't know why is he even popular that much cause you can't notice him in a match!
