Dear Imaginations,
Its a very good question, the reason of his answer was
Everyone wants to get assured about his/her own belief. That means sometimes we (an individual) question a person (one who is recognised or in our opinion knowledgible), just to prove that what we (an individual) believe is correct. And we do not care about what they answer if the contrary comes out as the answer. In other words [I'll shut my ears if my belief is not recognised, and if my belief is accepted then MY EGO will be satisfied].
So, Buddha did not give any room for ego to be harnessed or let the questioner live in his closet, if his desire is great he will not ask Buddha but will search for his own whether there is god or not.

Lastly, I have heard some other story that he answered 3 people 3 different things when the asked same question, that is, does got exist?
He answered yes to one, no to the other and may be to the last one.
Still, the question is whether we try to find the truth or not is upto us... and we have to acertain the existance ourselves we just can have guidance from people like Buddha.... the journey has to be one's owns.

You're most likely proper - it is a notion - there's no good judgment or cause you must consider whatever that is not provable. But we have now plenty of technological know-how that's no longer but found out or provable, only a notion or theoretical. So shall we ask, is there theoretical evidence for the lifestyles of God? Life exists, however guy can not work out how or why? Score a million for God. We have an innate inside feel that we all know proper from mistaken that is going past intuition? why - Score two for God. Given that each one existence began from a unmarried occasion, why the enormous variety? Wouldn't evolution force the whole thing to a unmarried superb existence style - is that the logical finish to evolution? Score three for God. When you uncover your self in a existence or dying concern, for a few unusual cause - the lifestyles of a God is now not puzzled. Not plenty atheists go back from wars.

Buddha's answer was a reflection of the Bible verse "Be Still and know that I am God". The questioner was being told to remain silent in mind and speech, and realize God's presence within him and everybody else including Buddha. The question then resolves itself since self-perception is the ultimate proof.

Buddha didn't believe in a god or supreme being, although certain branches of Buddhism do believe in a god of sorts. His teaching are all focused on man's ability to overcome his existence. The 4 Noble Truths explain that suffering is real and can be overcome. If asked whether he believed in god he would probably had said, you are a god, since you are the only one who can attain Nirvana.

Why he said nothing? He had taken a vow of silence, or he was trying to help the person who asked to understand the true path to Nivana, which is to rid oneself of all desire. Curiosity, is a desire to know. Further, it doesn't really figure into the eightfold path. I mean, whether or not God exists, when the end goal is to achieve "nothingness," really makes the significance of that question rather moot, does it not? In short- that existence serves no relevant point in Buddhist enlightenment.

He knew we are just a drop of water in an endless sea. All we do crumbles to the ground though we refuse to see.

Dust in the Wind. Buddha knew we are dust in the wind.

Perhaps the god is within you. Believing in god is so trivial. How can you exterialize god from yourself, there is no, but the god that create from your own good actions. Buddha was the wise one who sadi that!

/i feel Buddha remained silent because he knew that God was within him...to believe in God very simply means to believe in oneself...cos we are all children of God (WHATEVER NAME WE MAY CALL HIM), all of us have some godlike qualities in side ...only difference is that some of us allow our light to shine through , while others deny the light and choose to live egoistically in the darkness of life...peace to all
