Are people more violently opposed to fur rather than leather because it's much easier to harass rich women than motorcycle gangs...?

Ha. Great question.
Maybe its because leather is more abundant than most fur and people eat the cow meat that leather is made from. But minks and such.. are only killed for their fur.

Good question - maybe it is because of the animals involved. Animals associated with fur are cuddly and soft and cute whereas nobody would want to cuddle a crocodile or a cow (leather) except Steve Irwin...
