Try downloading Window Washer V6.0 (from download.com). It erases a lot of junk which collects in the memory and is totally safe. This helps a lot in a faster startup of your PC.

You can also download RegCleaner from the same source but be careful to only delete files which are "safe to delete".

Hope this helps out, let me know by e-mail.

If you cannot download the files I can transfer them to you if necessary.

well first do a virus scan and once that is done, if there are any files which are infected its best to delete them instead of quarantining them. then u can do a disk de-fragment so that ur files and data are in correct order and your pc doesnt have to go from one side of your disk to the other to get the neccessary info. remove programs which you dont use often or which can be run of the cd. and check your RAM to determine if thats a factor. also spyware slows down your pc so try and remove it. you can also try up grading depending on what operating system u are currently on.

hope this helps.

There may be many factors you need to look into.

Firstly, you can try getting an anti-virus program to check for infected files in your system.

Secondly, try getting a spyware remover, like Spybot Search n Destroy". Scan your system for spywares, as they lag your system real bad.

Next, you might have installed too many applications lately. Why not uninstall useless applications, and keep processes as low as possible, by eliminating processes that are not really needed.

This should help.

Try the following.

Uninstall unwanted programs by going to Start --> Control panel and running Add/remove programs.

Then run a free utility called crap cleaner (download from http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/ ) to clean all the unwanted temporary files/directories and entries in windows registry.

You can run "Crap cleaner" without even uninstalling anything.

You may be running too many programs at one time, and the speed of the computer just isn't that fast. Have you tried to get rid of all the programs and stuff you never use?

You should
1) check the size of your RAM,
SOLUTION: 256 (MB) ram is preferrable to use.

2) Run disk cleanup wizard

3) It is rare, but not impossible -- you might have been infected by a virus or spyware.
SOLUTION: Buy antispyware and antivirus, etc..........

You fix it with a sledge hammer, worked for me! Best save up for a new one first in case the sledge hammer damages anything when you're trying to fix it though

Maybe a virus or something, or hard drive is starting to crash or something, slow access time.

INCREASE ITS PROCESSOR AND/OR RAM. AFTER INCREASING THE PROCESSOR AND/OR RAM THE SPEED OF YOUR COMPUTER WILL AUTOMATICALLY INCREASE.
INSTALL THE LATEST ANTI-VIRUS PROGRAM (eg. NORTON or McAfee ) AND SCAN YOUR COMPUTER TO CLEAN THE VIRUSES BECAUSE SOMETIMES VIRUSES MAKE THE COMPUTER QUITE SLOW EVEN IF THE PROCESSOR AND/OR RAM ARE LATEST.
