I was read it about 7 years ago, as far as i can remember, it was about 2 children, one boy, one girl.
They had to knock 3 times on a tree trunk, i think to get to another world.
It might have been called "The Grey Pumpkin" but i loved it and can't find anything about it.

I would call it a kids book, yes, I was 7 when i had it read to me.
It seemed like quite an old book
