Independent journalists tell us that the corporate media represents vested interests who want to have an unelected, unaccountable regime who will bypass democracy, who will laugh at the US constitution and who hate true liberties and freedoms. Are they right ?

For almost ten years, I worked for the 'corporate media' - and there is no such thing as an editor or publisher who is allowed to publish anything that goes against the corporate creed. The Fourth Estate is no longer the protector of our freedoms and a watchdog over government intrusion or control. The Fourth Estate is part of the complicity, driven to control what citizens think, how they vote, where they live, who they marry, and how they worship.

The company I worked for is the country's largest publishing conglomerate. They own newspapers, TV stations, and media outlets all over the world. None of their publishers or journalists are completely independent; everything that is reported must adhere to the corporate culture, or that journalist is no longer employed. The media conspiracy today is as bad as it's been since the days of Hitler and Stalin where propaganda films served as "news". Rush Limbaugh and Shawn Hannity, in full collusion with the government, are nothing more than evil propagandists for the conservative right wing, spreading filthy lies and evil distortions to a gullible audience who thrives on hatred, machismo, and arrogant avarice.

Newspapers, radio and TV stations, and other media outlets must be independently-owned and free of corporate dictatorship if they are to be worthy of being charged with protecting one of America's most vital freedoms - that of free expression. -RKO-

I believe that independant journalism gives a more unbiased account. Corporate media have sp many fingers in different pies and become biased due to their funding and political support. A true journalist will lose family, home and even life to get the truth out.

I think a lot of the problems we have across the world now are due to how it is portrayed in the media. We are so accepting of the 24 hour news and the half truths in the news papers. There is no such thing as freedom of the press anymore.

All media is by definition controlled by corporations, with the possible exception of the internet... a medium by which indiviual views and thoughts can be express with few restrictions, which is why govenments and authorities seek to control it. Reaching your audience hower can be harder than the traditional means, but as the internet develops this too may improve.
