What is better? IPOD or MP3? What is the difference?

I dont want to get her something to expensive. I did look at a an Apple Ipod last night after posting my question. I want her to have very good responcibility before I get her anything more expensive. The Ipod came with a wrist sleeve thingy. She used to have a mp3 player, she never really had a chance to even listen to it or use it, and then we gave it to her big brother to down load music for her and he was to return it to her. He left it in his room and now he cant find it. I think one of his buddies stole it. She does to for it has been two months that it has been missing and he has not found it in his room. He lives in an another city so she cant go jack her brother up for her mp3 player.LOL. But anyways her dad wanted to get her a new one and is a nice big surprise and she is probably going to literally flip out screaching and such. Thanks for your help. I will choose a best answer in a few hours.

Ok mamn.
Me being a teenager I know. If your teenager wants a musical device to show off to their friends get an iPod. If your child wants a device to listen to music do not. For the same and a little less price you can get other mp3 players.
Instead of iPod Nano: a SanDisk Sansa e250, same storage, $50 cheaper. It has things that the iPod doesnt have, FM tuner, Voice recording, and in-line FM recording. It can also play videos, display photos.
Instead of iPod Video: a Creative Zen Vision M:, at the same price this player packs more of a punch, better screen for videos, better Creative software, a radio.
I hope that helped and your teenager gets a great gift.

For starters and Ipod is an MP3 player, and yes it is the most popular but not the best. The Ipod is quite expensive and has very little features compared to the other MP3 players like creative. Depends on what you are going for really if you want the features then go for a creative zen MP3 player, if you want the most popular go with the Ipod or if you want the cheapest then choose the smaller MP3 players by Panasonic, Sony etc...
The features of the Creative Zen are:
- it can store images
- it can store files
- it is an MP3 player
- it can record sounds
- color screen
- longer battery life than an Ipod
The Ipod can only store images (depending on the type) and play MP3s

Ipod Is the best as IPOD is having N number of utilities and mp3 doesnt cover that range more the output quality of sound is excellent in IPOD when compared to mp3 player so try it

You will surely hit home with an Ipod. An Ipod can hold not only music, but videos, podcasts and pictures. and mp3 is just a music player and cant store as much music as an Ipod. If you buy and Ipod make sure you buy one with at least 4GB of memory

ipod is more popular, there is more stuff that goes with it and its easier to use.
i have an ipod and I really enjoy it. My friend bought her daughter an mp3 player and the daughter felt like she got cheated, she thought the mp3 player was a piece of crap.

if u want to get ur child a good better mp3 player i suggest this mam. creative zen vision m. its better than the ipod more durable also and better audio qualtiy and screen quality. longer life battery lif eis 15 hours and video life is 4 hours vs ipods 2 hr. also it feels more sturdier. belive me shell be braggin to her frieds about it pls just checki t out. http://creative.com/products/product.asp?category=213&subcategory=214&product=14331
