if there is a reason why she cant have Christmas off such as a busy time for sales etc then no he is not being unfair. Some companies need to provide good service leve4ls at all times, why should one person take time off at a Christmas if thats a busy time, better to apply the rule to all staff

When I worked in retail we were expected to work through xmas but I know that when I took the job on.
If hes doing it just so he doesn't have to work xmas then yes thats unfair!
To be honest if I was a boss I would let everyone off at xmas. There's more to life than just working!

Depends on how much time she is asking for and what the company rules on leave are. However, she is asking in plenty of time and I think that it is rather unfair of your dad to dismiss it out of hand. If he doesn't like the dates or amount of time she wants then I am sure they could compromise. Sounds like he is being rather too rigid to me. Perhaps you could give us some more detailed information on the situation so we could judge better.

Very unfair. She works hard, never has time off sick and is a valuable member of staff. He should look after her more or she will leave then you will be up the creek without a paddle.

Yes. Because Christmas in any religion is a Holiday. Its time spent with Family and Loved ones. I don't understand why your father won't let her go on holiday, is your business open on Christmas?

If it comes your father he is experianced more than you isnt it
About the leave it is her wish if it is really must she can take on loss of pay or she may quit if she finds unfair

Is the time she wants off part of her holiday quota, if it is , she has given more than enough notice, and has given her boss enough time to get a temp in, or make other arangements if neccessary.

Well seeing its your Dad maybe you should talk to him .Tell him that on part of her days off she will be spending time with you and it ruins plans.
I wouldn't be happy in any job if I wasn't allowed to use my holidays when i've requested well in advance.
