I was recently dumped (I hate that term!) over the phone by my boyfriend of 8 months. He wouldn't give an reason. I don't believe there is any one else involved. is this ever acceptable?

sometimes there isn't a reason! it could be there isn't enough chemistry, could be he is scared.

But what ever the reason is you are better off without him since he dumped you via the phone - be grateful it could have been a post-it note (sex in the city) or via text

Good luck x x

No, of course this isn't acceptable at all...

I think you deserve more respect then to be told that way. Just know that if he behaved so rude to you he doesn't deserve you and in a way it is for the best to get rid of him. It isn't a comforting thought, but maybe it has saved you from bad experiences later in your life.

I have split up with my boyfriend a few months ago. He suddenly insulted me in a terrible way, there was no way I could stay with him. But I did feel bad about it for quite some time, but at luck we also have our family and friends who do stick with us and can give us comfort.

yes and no. no as in its not fair that he didnt give you a reason as to why he was dumping you, but guys dont think the same as us girls - these things play on our mind for ages, whereas guys have them forgotten in two secons.
Then id say yes he is entitled to dump you this way coz hes obviously an inconsiderate prick that you cant make any allowances/excuses for.
I personally think you're better off out of this relationship and wouldnt spend too long worrying or thinking about it

Unfortunately you can't force him to give you a reason, so better to just accept it and move on.

Finishing with someone over the phone is a cowards way out anyway, so it probably won't be hard to meet someone better.

I don't think it's acceptable to dump someone over the phone, the guy needs to get a backbone!

Dumped is dumped! It doesn't matter how, the method just reinforces the fact that you're better off without him!

The fact that your even bothered about this shows you deserve more - time to move on.

Take care and Good Luck.

No it isn't acceptable, he has proven himself to be spineless and obviously not caring for your feelings by taking the easy option.

You should forget him, move on and find someone who would tell you straight no matter how hard it is!

However saying that have you tried "dumping" a girl? With all your crying, shouting & demanding of answers, its not easy!

Well, I'm a guy and the answer is no.
If you were good enough to go out with, and do all the things that go with that then you ought to be good enough to be treated with respect when it all goes wrong.
Don't take it personally though. He is probably immature, unable to articulate his feelings and under peer pressure to behave like a wanker.
Dont waste your time on him honey, find a real man. Not a boy. xxx

What? Is dumping someone acceptable? Thats your question? Of course its acceptable... if someone is not happy in a relationship then what are they supposed to do?
