You should check out the website "librarything.com". People will list the books they've read and some will give their personal ratings and reviews. Here is one I just clipped:
"This diary contains some of the most poignant observations and prayers that I have ever read. Even though Anne is long gone, her soul is contained within the pages of her diary--she never knew, or even dreamed or thought, she she would have such a profound effect on people all over the world, forever. There are a million and one accounts of the Holocaust, and there is even a major museum dedicated solely to it, but nothing in the world makes one cry so hard as to hear the effects of such a terrible thing from the diary of a young girl.
MissLizzy (Jul 25, 2006)"
It is very highly rated by readers at Librarything. I read it quite a few years ago, so can't add much personally.

I read it way back in high school quite some time ago, it is pretty good. you have to remember it was written by a young girl in hiding for her life. I then had an opportunity to go to her hide out home in Amsterdam, that was really awesome to see where these 7 people lived together it was so small.

Yes, very interesting. The thoughts of a teenager we can all relate too, what she thought of her mother and relationships etc. But then what is happening outside in the big wide world is very poignant.
Well worth reading, and if you ever get a chance go to her house in Amsterdam. Really hits home.

it's a beautiful haunting look at a horrible time in the world, and one girls struggle to survive the darkness................hopefully you got the newer version that has added several letters back in that her family removed because they were unfavorable to her father, the entire text paints a much clearer picture of a very brave girl..................enjoy!!!
