Depends what age, early teens might enjoy Emily Rodda, while later teens would find that beneath them and may enjoy something a bit more adult, though of course some books are just a little too graphic.
Personally, I read the Horrible Histories and Horrible Science etc. series throughout my teens, I found them quite interesting, but older teens may find these a little boring, they are aimed at the younger teens and children.

V.C Andrews books have been around for a long time and are very popular still. The series of Unfortunate Events is another big series as well. I have a 13 year old daughter who is into both and she was never a big reader before getting started on these.
