i don't know very much about it but as per as my knowledge when you sleep the nerves may be compressed & irritated so when you wake up they causes abnormal sensesations like pins & needles. however it may be some neurological disorder also. so you must consult any neurologist

Could be a pinched nerve in your neck - but - I just went to the doctor for the same thing and it isn't my neck. Carpal tunnel is a good candidate but they decided that my muscles aren't being used like they were before in my shoulders and that is causing it. I get it when I drive and have to take turns taking a hand off the wheel and shaking it. I'd say unless you have recently changed your physical level, carpal tunnel is a real good candidate. It's probably not serious but you should have it looked at. I was afraid that I was having a stroke or something.

As you sleep in different positions sometimes your hand come under your body and the weight causes difficulty in the circulation of blood....when that part doesnt get blood you get a sensation of pins and needles...

Voodoo dolls aren't a good thing to be sleeping with. Consider a teddy bear instead.

Neuropathy(maybe),go to the doctor don't wait, it maybe nerve damage.Find out what is causing this and why ,so if it's anything serious maybe they can stop it from progressing.

Personally, I would go and get it checked out at the Doctors, it could mean that your blood is harder to push around your body.
