You cannot. There are little under handed ways though. Seach for this question cause it's been asked and answered before.
1. Rainbow gear
2. Ask about girlfriend or boyfriend (backfires on singles or bisexuals, but they might get the clue)
3. Get in their space, see reaction
4. Talk about GLBTQ issues, aka gay marriage rights, see reaction
5. Ask them if they want to go out

You can't! Ever hear of "metrosexuals?" And I've met some really masculine women that were hanging all over their male partner. (And yes, they were men, not even more masculine women.) Then there are pansexuals, queer people, and people that don't confine themselves to a gender role. There's no way of knowing their preference without asking them.

Gaydars do not exist. It's rude to make assumptions about someone's sexual orientation due to their outward behavior. Unless they arrive to the topic of sex, relationships, etc or are adorned in gay pride stickers, it's not appropriate to assume anything.

I firmly maintain that you cannot tell if someone is gay or not. You CAN usually tell if they're interested in YOU or not through eye contact and such.

Well i have an idea but never tried it..... may be it will help u ...
Go closer to the target (having same gender/sex) then try to hold his/her genetal (private) parts. If he/she kicks u or slaps u down ur ears. he/she is definetly not a gay/lesbian....

Only a gay knows another gay, the radar just works automatically. But if you're straight, you cant sense a gay guy/girl, but i repeat 'gay' not those sissy acting guys or butch looking girls. If they're sissy (guys) and butch (gals), it will surely tells us that their gay based on their clothing/ style and they're attitude.
Usually the real gay guys are just so hard to sense....thank God...hope no one finds me out...hehheee
