It seems that eveything these days has its own medical term. It is some disorder or syndrome etc...

A friend of mine tells me that her son has got ADHD. I've been at her house frequently, and to me her son takes the piss big time. Because she lets him get away with it he does it even more. But she puts it down to his ADHD. I put it down to lack of discipline.

From what I've seen ADHD is fraudulent. Of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

I totally agree that ADHD is not real. Too much emphasis is placed on trying to find an internal cause for bad behaviour whether it be in children or adults. It is far too easy to diagnose a disorder than to have a full and frank discussion with the parent about their discipline procedure (or lack thereof), especially these days where a frank discussion can lead to aggression from the parents! Parenting is a simple formula:
Love + Attention + Discipline = Fulfilled Child

Nearly all matters affecting the brain are a matter for some debate. Virtually any condition you can name has some people who believe passionately that it's a "real" biological phenomenon and others who believe equally passionately that it's not, that it's just a convenient label, or it's something purely psychological which people can be trained out of.

I think that there is a broad consensus that ADHD has been overdiagnosed, particularly in the US. Personally I believe that it is a real condition, but that it's difficult to draw the line between those suffering from it and those children who are simply difficult to "control".

Ithink ADHD is oh so real,my grandson is a sufferer, makes him so active, and not in the naughty sense. He is 4 years old and because he cannot sit still or concentrate he is very underweight. He is a lovely child who is disciplined, but is constantly running or climbing.Until you have it in your family its easy to say its bad parenting,I used to say it myself...not now.

The author said he agreed with a doctor who said ADHD is a total 100% fraud.

I agree with both of them, and have for over 15 years. It is a fraud, just like the so-called disease of alcoholism and addiction.

As he said, he has no experience of a child with ADHD. Therefore how can he comment?

He shouldn't be taken seriously. He's an idiot.
