Four weeks ago, a small ulcer appeared on my tongue. I consulted an expert doctor. He put me on three day's medication. There was no improvement. On my second visit after three days, he asked me to continue for another three days. I found improvement. But then, a second one and a third one appeared too, all on the tongue. But these disappeared very quickly without causing any pain. But the fourth one has been so painful and still continues after two weeks of medication. What worries me is that the cause of mouth ulcers is not medically proven to this day. The doctor acknowledges this. Can anyone help please suggesting treatment for relief of pain and also lasting healing?

I'd read before that people who have mouth ulcers lack some sort of vitamin...cant remember that though...but when I have ulcers like that I brush my teeth, rinse with mouthwash or salt (bactidol also helps). It goes away after a few days(sometimes weeks).

I get those, too. They're also called canker sores. I get them on my tongue, too. There really isn't any helpful treatment. What I do is brush my teeeth and rinse with mouthwash to kill all the bacteria. I also uses something called Orabase which you put on the sore and it creattes a film that helps with the pain. Of course, you can't do that on your tongue. For that, I usually find that my teeth is what makes that hurt so I got some wax stuff that you put on braces on the points of my teeth, the ones that irritate my toungue. Works every time. Then you just have to ride it out.

I've read that they can be caused by stress, change in diet, change in metabolism, etc.
Rinse with warm, salt water and use glyoxide on it.
