I think racism is more than just an unwillingness to accept. I think it is a corrupt state of mind where a person thinks he is better than every one around him based on superficial hings like colour and race and ancestry. Racism also means that person goes out of his way to make another feel inferior by expressions , verbally or thru actions.what Hitler did with his concentration caps for jews was an extreme form of racism but even the slightest gesture of superiority or disgust towards another can denote the same. I think every race is unique in its culture and if we accept it there are so many wonderful things to appreciate in them but as long as people are close minded and petty there is no healing the world

I think that it is possible. I think that someone's culture/race doesnt affect how good a person they are and what they have to offer. I wish the world would get pass racism. I hate it. I think everone should just be thought of as people instead of black people or white people. It shouldnt matter. Different races should come together and open new doors and just have each others back?

Racism is deeply rooted in other things.
My parents are very accepting of other cultures, but because of where they have lived (while they were studying in diff countries), they seem to harbor some racist tendencies. Some of the things they say shock my bro and I, but we know that they are extrememly accepting of other cultures.
Also, there are many places where black/hispanic/white are not different cultures. Everyone has assimilated to "American" culture. But some people have mental associations of disfavorable traits with certain skin colors. This can be gained through your upbringing, through the media, etc.
You listen to enough stories of black people shooting people, you will start to be more aware of how you can protect yourself or escape when a black person comes near you. This is not unwillingness to accept black culture, but rather associated black skin with bad things.

Yes it is an unwillingness....however, I fully have a problem with people using the race card and telling me I owe them something. I wish everyone would realize we are equal and not try to be better than the rest.

Yes, you are correct. It is unwillingness to accept other cultures and physical characteristics that may be different from our own.
It is usually based upon ignorance and fueled by feelings of inferiority and fear.

I think it is easier to embrace other cultures if you are brought up being around them and realize how much you are alike and have in common. it also seems that your parents encouraged or at least tolerated people of other cultures. a lot of prejudice people were raised being taught that other cultures are not as good as their own.

I totally agree. I believe that racist people (and bigots in general) are that way because they are scared of cultures and ways of life that don't know or can't understand. I think when people start seeing people as just that then we will be one step closer to not having racism as part of our lives.

No. Racism accepts other cultures. But it recognises other cultures as inferior and people professing other cultures as subservient. I admire you for your liberal views. May your tribe increase.

Well, the ORIGINAL definition of bigotry was RELGIOUS intolerance instead of racial intolerance. Just change the definitions on the words you cannot assimulate.
