The Equation is P*V = N*R*Tk

So Volume with respect to pressure, the Equation is

V=(N*R*Tk) / P

V=Volume
N=basically the number off particles bouncing around
R=just a constant number that you multiply everything by to make it come out equal
Tk=Temperature in degrees Kelvin
P=pressure

So lets say (N*R*Tk) stays the same and is say 1
and the pressure is 1
then Volume would be 1/1 or 1

now if you make the pressure 4
then Volume would be 1/4 or .25

So it's basically just an inverse ratio (1/x) as long as you don't compress it so much that it gets a lot hotter (or add more air)

If you compress the volume of the air the pressure will go up (and it will heat up). Think of squeezing something so that it occupies less space.

If you insert air without changeing the volume, pressure will go up for the same reason.
