raina is a middle-order batsman.
yuvraj singh was also seen as a opening batsman because of his silky cover drives. but he failed
same applies for raina. also, in presence of sachin, viru and utthappa there is no scope for him

Raina is one of those player who is effective on indian pitches only. He played 2-3 gud innings. I don't think he should be in the team at this stage, when we are looking forward to win the world cup
We have the best opening pair of Sachin and Sehwag. So don't need to do any experiments by giving chances to either raina or uttapa. If either of these gets failed then there is a time to call sourav ganguly to open the inning.

Ya .. thats the Indian team, they always try on sachin and shewag who always use to open the innings!
if they got to think diff they will send Pathan and Dhoni to the opening position even they will try for dravid... but not Raina.
he is actaully a classical player, he can bat at any position,
he will play in tha first downs.. in the under 19 cricket..
this is very same position of a opening batsman.. when a opener gets out soon, then the 1 down player will come to bat on the pitch just like opener..
India players should look into this and try the same in some matches..

Yes why not, in the mid 80s tail enders used to open for West Indies when the match becomes so dry, so why not Raina

raina is a ok player but i still dont think he should be in the team. india have gone down in recent year i dont no why. they used to play very well with excited shot.s sehwag and dhoni are gettin 2 excited from the 1st ball they get

yuvraj's place is in trouble as well as laxman's so your raina can come into middle order or he can wait till end of 2007 world cup
where sachin (may be dravid too) will announce retirement

He can be given a chance. If he plays well as a opener then he can be given the cance to play a opener in each innings.

raina takes time to settle.....he cannot play big shots from the 1st ball ........ his batting qualities more suits to be an middle order batsman
opener must be able to score runs from 1st ball itself........
