I watched a documentary on this years ago. It's really interesting to watch, females will often offer themselves up to males who have just been in a tense confrontation.

Females new to the group will also let the males "try her out," so to speak.

I don't think there is any organized warfare among Pan paniscus (rarely or not at all is what I've read), whereas their larger brethren, Pan troglodytes, who do not behave in this kind of sexual behavior, often do. Imagine how much we could benefit from this, if not politically... then at least recreationally!

Hmmm... Interesting idea. Since people are born Jewish matrilineally, maybe all the Jewish women should hook up with the Muslim men, creating a whole new group, the Muslim Jews or Jewish Muslims?

On the other hand, if Yasser Arafat and Barbara Streisand are representative of these groups, the results could be kind of scary...
