Go with what your heart says.
Every technology or career is good if we have intrest in it. A mechanical grauate cannot perform well or cannot have satisfaction by starting coding by some advanced language but he can be a good techinical person in any automibile company.
Ultimately earning money might be important for the society, but for oneself, job satisfaction and career satisfaction is very important.
Good luck.

After B.Tech, the world is wide open with choices. As you are an Computer Science engineer, you may wish to do the following:
1. Continue with M.Tech or M.S or Ph.D
2. Find some job and start working
3. Become a Computer Sciece teacher in a college.
If you are interested in further education, try hard to get into IITs and similar premier institutes, but you have get through GATE. You said you are good in programming, why dont you try for a job ? In any case you may do the following in the mean time.
1. Start with Operating Systems fundamentals (Linux and Windows).
2. Become an expert programmer in C++ or .NET stuff or J2EE.
3. Have a thorough understanding of Networking et al.
4. Understand more about software development tools like version control systems, testing suites, automated buids, IDEs etc.
5. Improve your Software Engineering skills.
When you are done with these, you would become much more confident to approach an university or a company.
