I wish I knew some guys that took an interest in knitting. I find that knitting is very fun, very relaxing, and very rewarding. I've just recruited 4 of my friends in the past few months to learn how to knit. As a matter of fact, its become quite popular for teens and young adults to take up knitting. As a warning-- don't knit those ugly sweaters and blankets that everyone's grandmother does. Do cool stuff, there's so many different kinds of wool nowadays that people aren't limited to that old-looking stuff.

No, knitting is getting big with men. It's great. I think all people should learn to knit. Then you have a greater appreciation of hand knitted gifts that you receive and you appreciate what's in the store more. Also, by breaking down the barriers between what's woman's activity and what's men's activities we are making a more balanced society that appreciates the input from all of it's members.

Absolutely not. Knitting is cool again and I should know as I work on a magazine about it. I do it in my spare time and I'm 27 too! Loads of people are doing it now, men and women of all ages. Gone is the "granny" knitting of yesterday, now is it actually an art. Loads of famous people do it now and among the men are Russell Crowe and Snoop Dogg believe it or not. Plus, we have a whole load of male readers and it's starting to be taught in schools again too, so plenty of boys are going to have to do it anyway. Enjoy!

No its quite normal I often sit in my local bar knitting with the other guys! On Tuesdays we get together and swap knitting patterns, its great fun, we also have knitting competitions its a great flurry of excitement!
Are you completely off your head ? Bring your knitting into my bar one night, just ask for the ' mens knitting group, and you will be given directions on where to park your bloody needles!!
Hope this helps put your mind at rest??

I think it is fabulous! I am a knitter myself, and I spend many relaxing hours in front of the TV with my yarn and needles. It is SO great to find a man that is so secure in his own masculinity to want to learn this craft. It is not gender-specific any more than cooking is. I have included a link to a great site--it will give you tons of information. If you have a local craft store, or yarn shop, check to see if they do classes. A good thing to start with are dishcloths--I have also included a link to patterns for you. ENJOY!!!!!!!!

Lots of fishermen used to knit on long voyages. In Guernsey in Elizabethan times the entire population, men, women and children, were making so much money for knitting stockings the government had to pass a law to make make them do their regular work first.

Certainly not! It's a very creative thing to do and can be just another outlet for a creative flair. Who care's if anyone on here thinks it is gay or sad for a guy to knit. I think more people should pick up on hobbies etc .
Enjoy Your new hobby and stick two fingers up at the sad opinions of others!

It's not that it is weird - but I don't know if it is normal, basically I don't know many more 27 year old men or women for that matter who can knit - but give it a go if you must!

Since you are both adults, I don't see the harm. Johnny Depp was 27-years-old when he dated Winona Ryder, who at the time was 19-years-old. What you do need to do is tell your parents how old he really is. If they find out his age without you telling them, they'll be very hurt and upset, and probably angry as well. Best of luck. :)

I think it's cool! More guys should be like that! I wish I knew how to knit. My mom always makes all these cool blankets and scarves. It's awesome. Good luck learning and who cares what other people think!
