I cannot fully understand what a rape victim suffers as thankfully I have never been raped. However, I think that counselling from professionals and the love and support of your friends and family are the best prescription!
All I can say is that the professionals are trained to help you with this and know how to deal with what you tell them. Your friends and family will hopefully give you the love and support needed to help you through it.

By confronting the perpetrator if possible, counselling either way and by getting over it.
It's absolutely ridiculous for someone to allow one single thing to dominate their entire life- move on.
Rape is no more traumatic than you allow it to be. There are a very large number of men who have been raped in prison, (I personally know two of them.) and have gone on to find a career, straighten out their lives and continue to function normally.
Just like an asskicking or falling off a bike, it only hurts for so long and then it's time to let it go. Granted, rape is no trivial thing but there is no excuse for allowing it to control your entire life.

Prevention is better than cure.Avoid provocative dress during odd hours out and avoid lonely lanes.Get trained in some art of self defence like judo /Karate.If you are about to be physically approached cry or shout loud.Still you are over powered do not loose hope put your hands aroud the balls and squeeze together as tightly as possible.Apply maximumm force any body will leave.
In case nothing works out, coplain to police early and with the help of lawyer proceed and get the criminal punished.

If you feel strong enough report it to the police and most can refer you to counselling, even if you don't press charges. Your information can help build up a picture of the guy and hopefully they will catch him. Eventually you will see you did something positive. Be prepared for a whole range of emotions in the early stages, talking to someone you trust can help, but be careful if it is a male friend, they tend to get angry, but it is not you they are angry with, but the creep that did.

Consider getting counseling. Check the local phone book for rape counseling centers, or go to http://www.rainn.org/. They have a link where you can type in your area code and state to get a list of rape crisis centers in your area.

it depends on whether it was fairly recently or long time ago.
first off its not your FAULT, believe that.
Women will react differently after sexual assault or rape. It is important to trust and validate your feelings and do what you need to do in order to recover. This may entail telling a friend, going to a place where you feel safe or having a bath or shower or crying.

have someone good to talk to, you really need to tell the police if not for your self then for others as he/ her has done it to he will do it to some one else and i am sure you dont want that and they should be in jail to rot away.
You should NOT blame your self there is nothing wrong with you.
you need to go to your GP and get looked at, take a friend to hold your hand, talk about it don't bottle it up as that's not good for you at all.
