This is a very hard question to answer. It depends on pain medications if you have any. Depending on what you choose you may not feel any of the labor. If you go pain free the pain can be horrible. The labor pain can be very long while the birth is usually rather short. Dont get me wrong birthing can be very painful for many woman also but much shorter then the actual labor. With the epidural you will feel no pain usually during labor and some woman dont feel anything during the birth with it. I on the other hand had a pain free labor but I felt everything during the birth like the epidural didn't work anymore. Everyone is different. I hope this helps a little. Good luck to you.

Depends on whether you're getting an epidural or not. I had epidurals with both my births so the contractions of hard labor were the most painful. Pushing the baby out was very strenuous and there is a lot of pressure down there when the baby is coming down the birth canal.
I have friends who have given birth without pain relief. Without an epidural the pain and pressure build and build until you think you can't take it anymore and then it's over once you push the baby out. Without pain relief there really isn't any comparison of pain from labor vs. pain from birth. The pain is all on top of each other so I don't think you can really separate it like that.

I think the labor hurts most because it lasts a lot longer. It does hurt when the baby comes out though. Especially the shoulders. Are you getting an epidural? That helps. I was luck with both my children. My first labor lasted only 4 hours and it didnt even take 10 minutes to push. My second lasted a little longer, but only like 8 hours and it didnt hurt that much at all(I had an apidural the second time).

Birthing part it worse, because you are still in all the pain from labour with the added pain of birthing.
To the person below me, one for head, one for shoulders?! Lucky! lol
I never understand why people say the labour is worse, because when you are giving birth ou are still in labour, so labour+ added pain is worse than just labour. Thats the way I see it anyway each to their own I guess

I can't remember. You never remember the pain once you've got it over and done with! lol
Although saying that, my last labour and delivery wasn't particularly painful as I was quite relaxed. The only part that hurt was when the second twin moved down into position and pressed on my pelvic bone. But that only lasted a minute or two then she was out.

I think it all depends on what type, if any, pain medications you use. I had an epidural, and didn't feel a darn thing, when I actually had my baby. So, for me, the labor part hurt the most (before I got my pain meds).
And its not a silly question to ask!

When I was having my son the labor was horrible, I felt as though my lower back was being pulled in opposite directions then I was rushed for emergency c-section so I can't say I've experienced the entire birthing process but I would rather have c-section again if I have another child.
Don't be scared because of my experience, it is different for everyone.

The labor hurts the most when you are in labor. I just had a baby 10 days ago all natural. When it is time to push the baby out it is a relief. It hurts but feels good when you are pushing them out. It feels better then when you are having those multiple digit contractions.

The birthing part, cuz actually you have to push, against what your body tells you to do since you already have the labor pains... and you have to make yourself hurt more, before it's all over...
It's like knowingly hurting yourself.. kinda... At that point you just want it over, so if it means one more painful minute, then so be it!
