Ice would be a good choice. Another alternative would be to try cooling gel. It helps to reduce swells. At least it does for my case. Or if you do have certain allergies, it's always best to see the doc.

Wrapped ice - or frozen peas, or whatever. Just make sure you're not applying it directly - you can damage your skin that way. Oh, and if this is from a recent injury (like, the last day), try to avoid hot showers or baths or anything, because heat can make it balloon up. Hope you feel better!
