I have read a few short stories by Jack London. I like the emotionless prose style narration he writes. His works are really good. The vivid description that he makes in his stories actually conjures up the picture in front of your eyes. He is easily one of the best writers of contemporary times. My favourite story is "To Build a Fire".

I like White Fangs
I read this book in junior high and I really like it (what is quite unusual for a book I had to read for school)

Martin Eden.

It's one of his most effective autobiographical works (see John Barleycorn which dealt with his alcoholism).
