Many of them do not put down their text book methods to connect to a person. Psychology desensitizes humans and then attempts to put them into boxes. People just need connections and to feel real LOVE to be bettered.

I know what you are talking about. As in all things, there are good and bad people in every industry. It is important to take the time to choose a counselor very carefully. My friend went to a very well known and celebrated "specialist" who really messed him up. His father was very wealthy...and I suspect the person in question had a disdain for "Rich people's kids."

He use to charge exorbitant prices for his services and then take the kids on fancy field trips and feed them comics and candy bars...so they didn't tell their parents they were being ripped off...they were having too much fun. This gave my friend a very distorted view of things...and it took him many years to get some real help. I always tell people..."Spend at least as much time in choosing a therapist as you do buying a car, purchasing your groceries, etc."

If you're talking about therapist or psychologists, some of them study freudian and similar methods. They might take years to figure out the cause of your problem, but never actually help you with it. There are plenty of therapists (and theories) out their now who focus on solving your problems. It's good to know what problems are caused by, but we all don't have 5 years and an endless supply or money or insurance. Look for short-term therapists. They are usually present and solution focused.

I hope this is what you are talking about and that it helps.

They need to think out of the box. The textbook cases should be a guideline not a rule. Each person is an individual and needs individual help based on their specific situation

Well it's because they bring up a lot of the problems the person is having.

BUT, that is the only way you can deal with the issues.

If you don't bring it up in conversation how can you fix it???

So yes in the beginning it is going to be hard.

True true.

That's why it's better to get kids interested in activities which will really get their attention....except the drugs and the gangs. Peace.
