If the war did happen, it might have, given the barbaric nature of the region, it was a battle within an area formerly of the Ottoman Empire, presently Greece and Turkey, respectively the cities of Mycenae and Troy, the first is southwest of Athens and Troy somewhere southwest of Istanbul, on the coast. (Mycenae is closer to Athens than Tryo to Istanbul).

The work of the 19th-century archaeologist Heinrich Schliemann showed that the story of the war was probably based on historical events of the early 12th century BC. Some scholars believe that the Trojans were a Luwian-speaking people who came into conflict with the Mycenaean Greeks.
This happenned in Greece of present day.

The Trojan War was a war waged, according to LEGEND, against the city of Troy in Asia Minor, by the armies of the Achaeans, after Paris of Troy stole Helen of Sparta from her husband Menelaus, king of Sparta. The war is among the most important events in Greek mythology and was narrated in many works of Greek literature, of which the two most famous are the Iliad and the Odyssey of Homer.
