By "you" I mean the voice in your head that is your thoughts and memories. How can you just stop existing? Don't your thoughts have to go somewhere, like they float in the air, endlessly, or something?

How can you stop existing?... by being dead. Death is the ending of existence. My thoughts don't have to go anywhere, that's like saying my sex-drive or my fight-or-flight response must still exist, floating around when I die.

Your thoughts, feelings and memories are your spirit! You don't just stop existing, you have eternal life in heaven if you believe in Christ which from your question I don't think that you do. That is what is sooo awesome about your question, Jesus is knocking on your heart. He has the answers honey, seek him out! He's waiting!

We just do. Like we never were. Think about all the memories you have already lost. It is as if those things never happened to you if you have no way to remember them. Hell, the world could have been created five minutes ago, and your memories with them. Who is to say that it can't all be stopped?
