Poverty in the USA:

Each of the 50 states has a Metropolitan (city with sky scrapers). Surrounding the cities is suburbia ... and then outside of suburbia is the country.

The homeless are most visible in the area where the sky-scrapers are. You'll drive/ walk and see the homeless with cardboard signs asking 4 $$$. Then a typical city will have a section known as the "Ghetto" where the poverty is rampant, and crime is pervasive. Don't go here alone at night. Music Rappers have brough light to this poverty but have covered the seriousness of the poverty by flashing gold teeth, and fantasizing about helicopters, cars, and women ... when we watch a music video with a rapper, we think wealth ... but really, it's pure poverty with starving people living in the ghetto. The ghetto splits itself into seggregated area's of each city ... separating the blacks, mexicans, asians, and whites who are poor. Although the USA aims to melt cultures, it does a poor job since I can find seggregated communities ... however, I believe that each community intentionally seggregated itself.

Then in the area's surrounding the city ... suburbia ... all economic classes live; rich, middle class, and poor. Some of the "Red-neck's" and "Hillbillies" live in what is called "Mobile Parks" or "Trailer Parks". These are lots where a Mobil home is taken off a vehicle and placed in lieu of a house. Here a typical family will be a single mom, and 3-4 kids ... some of these are called "Red-necks". Since Mobile homes are not secured to the ground very well, they suffer greatly with all the hurricanes-forcing them in a lifestyle of poverty. I think every USA city has a trailer park community of poor people ... Don't confuse this with the "Rich" trailer parks ... for some reason the rich like to imitate the poor in the USA ... and stars like Oprah will buy a $500,000.00 Mobile vehical loaded with everything, and drive around to "Trailer parks" ... but these "Mobile Parks" are high class and cost serious $$$ to park there

Also, outside of the surburbia, past the rich, there are actual people who live in the hills and mountains. They are most associated with Southern States (the guys who tried to suceed from the USA; but Pres. Lincoln stopped 'em) ... Arkansas, Louisian, the Carolina's, Florida, etc-etc-etc. Often they will be in religions like the "Holy Rollers" (dancing & kissing poisenious snakes) and although society labels them poor, they live within their means and care little about what society thinks. They will live off of food they shoot and kill like squirrls, coons, rabbits (any varmit really).

They live everywhere in the US. You must live a very sheltered life. It's a names your friend has mis informed you. There are people all over that consider themselves to be hillbillies that are in fact not poverty stricken quite the opposite the same with redneck. Research States like Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama,
Georgia, North and South Carolina etc
The fact of Poverty being everywhere maybe you need to explore New York City and you will see Poverty at it's Best.

Hillbilly is a term for people who dwell in remote, rural, mountainous areas. In particular the term refers to residents of Appalachia and later the Ozarks in the United States. Usage of the term "Hillbilly" generally differs from other terms referring to rural people in the United States in that it can be used for mountain dwelling people anywhere but is generally not used to refer to rural people in non-mountainous areas. Further, terms like redneck and cracker, often connote rejection of, or resistance to assimilation into the dominant culture, while hillbillies theoretically are merely isolated from the dominant culture. Nevertheless, the term is sometimes considered derogatory depending on the manner in which it is used or the attitude of the target.

I have no idea of what "lilAudry" is talking about. She needs to take a class in remedial writing.

"Ganesh r," on the other hand, is giving you correct information. However, he probably forgot to tell you what "Redneck" means.

It's a term for whites who live in the South, are generally anti-assimilationist, and speak ill of anyone who is not whte or a fundamentalist Christian. The "Redneck" refers to the fact that they live in the "sunny" South and have a "perpetual" sunburn on the backs of their necks.

With today's access to transportation and instantaneous communications, Hillbillies and Rednecks can live anywhere in the U.S. "Ganesh r" is giving you the historical places of residence.
