If you do not have experience with this type of work, you need to hire a contractor to at least draw you a set of plans and advise as to the structural elements you will need to consider.

It is common to finish attic space and is the cheapest way to increase the living space in your house. Done improperly, it can come back to bite you at a later date.

Good luck with your project.

in one house I owned we insulated the attic walls and floor before we put flooring on top of the spaced boards. I suggest you put in fairly thick flooring up there. If you don't do that I suspect that someone will hop out of bed and their leg might fall thru the ceiling below. Before you put in the insulation be sure to do all the wiring first, like the lighting and wiring for fans.

I would recommend it. I did like wise with out. I think that it could have done with some extra ground support

I am not an expert on home expansion, it is my understanding that you need a sub floor to support your floor.....which is normaly tile.....carpeting......ect......
