The earliest you can get a positive result on the most sensitive pregnancy tests is seven days after ovulation (last contact).Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG) is what makes the pregnancy test positive. Implantation needs to occur before hCG is produced, and that generally happens between 6-12 days post ovulation, (usually by 10 days after). For this reason, it makes economical sense to wait until 10-12 days after ovulation, but even then a significant percentage of women who are indeed pregnant will still show a negative result. If your period is late, test again. Your hCG levels should double every 2-3 days and many people won't have a positive test until the first day of a missed period or even a few days later.A blood test is more accurate, but not necessarily more sensitive.

A pregnant test will usally show a faint line within a week of intercourse. You can go and buy a multi pack of pregnancy tests, so you can test more then once if need be. There are pregnancy test out there that you can test about 5 days before your missed period. I know that when I was pregnant, it showed up as a faint pink line about 5 days after intercourse. Best of luck to you & good luck. :)

usually pregnancy tests cannot detect pregnancy until you have a missed period...blood tests given by your doctor can detect it sooner, but not as soon as a week after the fact.

Each time I did the test a week after my missed period and it came up positive 4 times...the line was faint but definitely there..then i did it again at the doctors a few days later and it came up stronger.
