Most of the money that NASA uses does not go to the SETI project, instead it goes to local projects such as satellites and the ISS (International Space Station) which, consequently, could be used to help create medicines that could save people from disease. Scientific exploration is important, even if it may seem like a waste of time. Issues such as homelessness and starvation can be solved by other methods. Even if the US Government shut down NASA and used that money to solve certain problems, the money would not be enough to make a huge, long term impact on society.
I suggest, instead of worrying about NASA (which had provided the world with many useful and important discoveries and technologies) and how they are spending their money, join a soup kitchen, provide money to charities, help a homeless person find a job, etc... If the citizens of the world took time to help each other instead of blaming someone else for the world's problems, this would be a pretty great place to live.

Well all science should be stopped then. Lets spend all our money on feeding poor people ..oh a wait Obesity is more of a problem among the poor in this country ...mmmm bad logic there. I think all science that I don't understand should be stopped ....wait didn't they find out our earth has been smacked several times by asteroids/comets and stuff ....so lets wait until we see on heading straight for us before we start a space program. I don't understand therefore I am RIGHT! Now there is a way to run a railroad. Maybe if they turned a profit ..like dragging some big freaking rock with gold in it down ....pay for NASA for years. Make you happy then?

Do a search on how many items that were developed by NASA, that are now in use by the general public, and also, we keep increasing the planets population, we are eventually going to have to move out beyond earth, or do you prefer the "Soylant Green" way of maintaining population control. What we need to do, is to stop putting all of our countries money into other countries problems, we should solve our own problems first, then worry about every other country on this rock.

For starters, a slew of technology has been invented solely due to space research and travel - microwave ovens and velcro to name a couple.
Eventually, we are going to run out of room on this planet. And even eventually beyond that, this planet will become uninhabitable.
The human race, at some point in time, will HAVE to be able to move to other planets. Not counting the possibility of nuclear winter, or asteroid devestation, the sun will eventually burn out.
The initial space travel and exploration HAS to be done at some point. And that's where we are now - the very basic levels of space operations. We can't even get out of our own solar system yet, but at some point we will have to be able to.
And aside from the survival aspect, space exploration brings marvelous new technology and innovations to the population of Earth; raising our quality of life. Where would you be without your microwave? or remote controls? or many other things invented solely due to space exploration research.
Instead of having all these regional conflicts and wars, the citizens of earth need to be working together to find ways to colonize the moon and Mars for starters.
A mining operation and colony on Mars would have inestimable benefiets to Earth.
sure, there's many many issues that have to be dealt with here on our planet, but we should never, ever stop space exploration and travel.
It might be ten generations, or a hundred generations from now when it will be vital to our survival.... but the earlier we develop technology and methods for space travel, the better.
I'm thinking that by the time my 2 year old nephew is ready to go to a nursing home, his grandkids will be able to book a vacation on the moon :P

Scientific endeavors like the space program have returned more money than they've ever spent in new technology, medicine and expansion of our race's knowledge. Science is a GOOD way to spend money. It's one of the only sure returns on investment we have.
Oh, and about the kids...mostly, the countries that have a problem FEEDING their children also have no programs to STOP BREEDING THEM. Quite often due to religious dogma or ignorance (but I repeat myself...)
Also, the problem isn't that money isn't being thrown at this issue, it's that the money is being diverted by:
1) Warlords
2) The charity themselves or
3) Governments that think they know better where to spend the money.
We NEED to continue to further our education as a species or we're ALL going to die when the next extinction level event occurs and we don't have options.

In every country, and in every timeline, there are poor and homeless. Sociologists have explained why over and over that it will not change. 90% of the homeless are kookoo, and most of the poor are so because of bad decisions. Educated people realize this. Those among us who fail to accept these facts will probably never do so, so society for the most part ignores them. Have you ever tried to talk logically to someone who defies logic? ( We call them Liberals..lol) We live in a Capitalistic system. Libs would have us descend into socialism. No thanks. We will never advance without the desire to better ourselves, and to accept the risk that goes with it. R&D requires money, and takes time to show sometimes dubious gains. Chasing butterflies and unicorns just won't hack it. My last rant, If you don't like things the way they are, get off your butt and contribute to the solution thru active effort. Not flapping your jaws. 'nuff said. G'night

The capacity of human is upper than we think they can explor and find every problem if there are not any problem,so if help them not to suffer from starving or poverty they can help to all mankind search and find many planets and...in future,so at present these charges for exploring is too soon.

because you have to dream, otherwise... you may as well just go ahead and die.
i DO agree that the govt. spends too much money on things instead of helping the poor etc., but i don't think space exploration is the problem... it's a very small part of the national budget.
mostly we build bombs, don't you think? perhaps it's better to ask, why does the USA spend so much money trying to make the world a mirror to itself rather than perfecting the thing which used to be american, to dream.

They have programs for homeless people and food banks and food stamps in this country. We can't do much about starvation in other countries. It's nice to think we could help, but there is not too much we can do.
Our exploration of space can help to answer many questions. We might find resources that we could use on empty moons for instance.

each cellular has DNA and it is consisted of two strands tightly woven around one yet another. the element that forestalls the two strands from breaking aside is termed a telomeric cap (that's random nucleotide sequences referred to as nonsense codons. Codon is a three series of nucleotides that codes for amino acids eg. CUU is a amino acid referred to as proline . A nonsense codon is one which doesnt code for any amino acid production) each and each time your cells divide a small series is lost there by using reducing the steadiness of the cellular's DNA (in layman's words). this would finally lead do maximum of Ur cells' DNA turning out to be risky. and in many cases while a mistake occurs in DNA the cellular will carry out vehicle cytolysis (cellular suicide) to avert issues. So once you're outdated maximum of ur cells telomeric caps would be low and that they are services to die while they attempt to divide.. Whats particularly interesting approximately this theory is the effect it has on evolution (because of fact this occurs on the two meiotic as nicely as mitotic divisions. meaning that a species grows outdated too in the previous it mutates.. yet thats a distinctive tale)
