I have oily skin that can be somewhat acne prone.

I Like Almay's new Clear Complexion Foundation (it's the one with the yellow logo and packaging). Powder often cakes on me, and to use it, the skin has to be exfoliated really well.

For cleanser, I am having the most luck with Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Wash - it's the orange stuff in the pump-top bottle. I have used all kinds of department store stuff, but I keep going back to this. Cetaphil Oily Skin Cleanser isn't bad either, but it seems to be a liitle TOO drying. Use a gentle facial buff pad every day with your cleanser in order to loosen up makeup and exfoliate your skin.

Toner doesn't have to be very complex. I did try Almay's and I didn't like it at all. Plain old witch hazel and a cotton ball do ok. Of the brands I have tried, I like Zia Natural for Oily and Problem skin. You can get it at Whole Foods stores or at www.zianatural.com.

Moisturizer, I think, can be a little tougher. Make sure what you are getting doesn't have mineral oil or petrolatum in it. It will be like putting a plastic bag on your skin instead of naturally allowing moisture to stick to your delicate dermis. Facial regimen dollars seem best spent in this department, and you may want to have a lighter one for summer than you have for the winter. I have never tried Almay's moisturizer. It could be worth asking a dermatologist about or visiting the makeup counter. Currently I am using Prescriptives Super Line Preventer in the summer since it is vitamin infused. In the winter, I use Prescriptives All You Need Moisturizer for normal skin. You can find both at the Macy's makeup counter.

Good luck!

I've seen good results with Vitamin C for reducing redness. (applied topically not like a tablet form.) You could look into microdermabrasion for the scars, I don't know if you get facials but you could splurge once and try it. For oily skin the best food advice I have is to stay away from spicy food. The products that you are using sound good and it's great that you are in a routine. Look for a vitamin C serum though (some come in powders) Dermologica and Murad are pricier brands but they really work. Good luck.

I once had a problem with my skin years ago and tried absolutely everything I could, although nothing helped. Several Doctors had me try a variety of soap, medicine, pills, etc.. Then, I received some information from someone about a toxin formed by the mixture of coffee and milk and how it could affect sensitive systems. I drank several cups of coffee a day, but was so concerned about the skin problem that I stopped drinking coffee completely. Within about 10 days my skin began to clear up. Now, my skin is fine, but if I drink more than 1 cup of coffee within a weeks time I will begin to break out again. I am thankful that I found this out before spending any more money on doctors, who would never have been able to help me with their medicines. I suspect there are alot of people who may suffer from this condition and that coffee may, in fact, be a mild toxin. I hope this information may help you!

If you’re looking for accurate acne information, best to see a dermatologist. Some people believe doctors are predisposed to take the easy way to deal with acne… prescription drugs. But, with many, this simplistic answer may not be the appropriate course of action. Some feel that such prescription drugs just treat the symposium and not the underlying cause. But, a local dermatologist is still your best starting point.
For me personally, I discovered a great informational acne treatment site. Not only is there good information/articles but I got their audio e-book and following it’s advice can now say that my acne is a thing of the past! Keep in mind, were all different and there are various types of acne, so what works for some may not be totally effective for all.

Bottom line, hang in there, you will get past this! Sincere best wishes and good luck.
Oh, by the way the site that helped me is:

I wouldn't recommend Almay skin care products, they've been reformulated but they're still not all that good. Neutrogena's foundations and powders are much better, and their Rapid Clear Acne Defense lotion is far better than anything Almay has.

Go to Clinique! The beauty advisors will help you pick the right things- they're trained for it.The drugstore stuff is iffy and the Clinique is not much more expensive- especially if you think of the expense of the trial end error you'll go through to get the right thing. If the Clinique stuff doesn't look good you can return it and get something else.
