the artries ..which r the big blood vessles take blood from the heart n distribute it to the cells n diff organs ..... .. but for distributing blood at cellular level... the blood should be in close contact with cells ..so that diffusion could occur ..... so the artries... change into thin valled capillaries .... which r one cell thick ... and blood slowly moves in it .... so diffusion occurs b/w the capillaries n cells ...
after the diffusion n oxygen distribution thingy...
the capillaries change into veins ..which r bigger than capillaries ..and they take de-oxygenated blood back to heart ..from where it goes ot lungs for OXYGENATION ....

As everyone else has said, they are capillaries, in us older folks when they rupture and you can see them under the skin they are called varicose veins.

2. veins: carry deoxygenated blood
3. capillaries: branch of arteries and veins
4: arterioles: thin branches of arteries
5. venules: fine branches of veins
