I'd stay away from carmex or blistex unless you have a cold sore. They have an ingredient (not sure if it's menthol or salicylic acid or what), but it just eats away the skin on your lips. It's especially bad for brass players. I'd go with something natural. I swear by Burt's Beeswax products. They make several varieties of lip balm as well as a whole range of other products.
