This is a highly specialized field and it takes someone with a great deal of experience and knowledge to judge the authenticity and value of an oriental rug. Best advice is to take it to an oriental rug dealer and have them give you an opinion. They will advise as to the age, origin, condition, care, and value. Some of them may charge a small fee for an appraisal, but it might be money well spent.

Good luck with your rug.
