Yes. In Australia it is compulsory for you to vote in all elections. However, as a democracy it is a secret ballot and you are free to vote for whomever you want or even to vote for no-one at all (ie 'spoil your ballot' or as they say here...cast a 'donkey vote').

No, not in the US. Maybe they should because not that many people vote. In some of the other countries, people travel for miles to vote. It is a privilege to vote. Most of the time, the people who criticize the elected officials didn't vote.

No. Here is America only about 1/2 of the people who could legally vote do so. It might be even less than half. That's why they run so many ads to promote voting on tv.

Voting in most countries usually in democracies like in the Philippines is a right but voters cannot be forced to exercise it. In some countries, you have to vote even when there is only one candidate, otherwise, who will be castigated.

no,but in the US special intrests own both sides,so it matters very little who wins and who loses.they still do the bidding of wealthy intrests that pay the bills.don't you just love capitalism.
