If you mean "better in their primes than Michael was in his prime":

WIlt

Bill Russell (six rings isn't the record, eleven rings IS the record)
Also, Russell's teams were 10-0 in game sevens.

Kareem Abdul Jabbar (also six rings, and a record six MVP awards)

Larry Bird

Magic Johnson

Oscar Robertson

Shaq

Dont' know that there's anyone in the NBA today who's better than Michael was in his prime (Kobe is a better ball handler, a better 3 pt shooter, a better individual defender and about the same as a rebounder ... and Lebron's not in his prime yet).

In his prime, before all the injuries, Larry Bird was the greatest player of all time. Jordan does not even come close.

Bird was a much better passer and rebounder than Jordan, not to mention a much, much more intelligent player than MJ. Bird made all those around him much better also. Most importantly, Bird was a winner. His first year in the league, he turned the Celtics from a last place 29 win team to a 61 win first place team, and continued that his entire career. It took Jordan 7 YEARS to win 60 games....AND THREE YEARS BEFORE THE BULLS EVEN BROKE .500. So much for his domination.

Jordan won 6 championships to Bird's 3, but Jordan never had to face teams like the Lakers and 76ers of the 1980's like Bird did. By the time Jordan started winning championships, the league had expanded and diluted the teams. If Bird's Celtics played in the '90's, they would have won it every year.

The ONLY thing that Jordan has over Bird is points scored. Bird could haver scored alot more than he did, but when you make the players around you better, you don't need to. That's one thing that Jordan realized later in his career. Yes, Jordan scored more points, but he also took a hell of a lot more shots. Plus, Bird was a more reliable clutch shooter than Jordan, but that's something that ESPN doesn't want you to know!

I consider the whole thing you mentioned, legitimate facets. I believe what ESPN manner is, Kobe and MJ desire to are very aggressive, extra so than such a lot NBA gamers (which I do believe is right). When Dirk did not make the playoffs this yr, it appeared as though he simply sort of shrugged it off, and used the "there's consistently subsequent yr" mentality. Kobe fought and scratched and clawed till his group was once capable to be within the playoffs. Switching his ranking first mentality to go and rebound mentality ( appear on the numbers and you'll see he has handed extra this yr than another yr). Kobe might have NEVER been ok with no longer making the playoffs, nevertheless it appeared as though dirk did not care this yr. And I'm an significant Maverick and Dirk fan, were my complete lifestyles. I'm assuming your over the age of 15 as a result of your abilities of the sport, so that you most likely noticed Jordan play. His will was once readily greater than another participant within the NBA, might be in physical activities interval. He additionally performed with the flu, and by way of many accidents. Although it's disturbing I do believe Kobe and MJ's will to win and competitiveness is greater than such a lot. Maybe no longer every person, however such a lot.

Nope, MJ is the greatest of all time. People talk about Kobe being great, possibly better. He might be an awesome athelete, but he'll never have the leadership skills that MJ also has/had. MJ was the total package.

Le Bron will eventually over take MJ as the greatest of all time, although I'm sure it will remain continually disputed forever. Unfortunately, Kobe will never be able to claim that honour, despite having one awesome game. As for WIlt, well for his time you can make a case that he was greater than Jordan, but he cannot compare when you consider the depth of talent faced by Jordan in his own era.

I would have to agree that Jordan, in his prime, is unmatched. Let's wait to see how Kobe and LeBron's careers pan out though...

there is only one answer to this question ... there is no one that can play better than MJ in his prime ... he's on a level where he is the only one, he competes with himself ...
