Exorcist still gets me. It may not be THE scariest, but watching it is emotionally exhausting. I always need to follow it up with a very fluffy no-brainer comedy just to get myself back on the right track.

Honestly...I think that as we get older..nothing seems scary anymore. If you ever notice, everytime someone recommends a scary movie..they say, when I was a kid, I was scared to death of this movie. I'm not scared of scary movies at all anymore, I grew up from the time I was 5 watching them with my mom. I've actually become addicted. But like you said, I haven't seen anything in scary in years. When I was kid, my mom forced me to watch Halloween (1-6 I believe). They always scared me. But now that I watch them when I'm older...I'm not scared. LOL! I guess it just depends on your age and how adapted you are to scary movies, that's all.
God bless...

The original "Dawn of the Dead" by George Romero left me with a queasy feeling the 1st time I saw it, I guess because of never having seen such a strong movie of this type before at the time of it's release. Whenever I watch it, I kinda still get a slightly uncomfortable feeling.

i saw the sixth sense in theatres when it first came out. I was only about 7. It scared me so bad i couldnt sleep in my own bed for along time! i still get freaked out going down the hallway to the bathroom at night. I always see things out of the corner of my eye just like in the movie!
worst thing is just as I was starting to recover from the Sixth Sense, I saw Blair Witch Project and relapsed back to my parents bed!

Carrie scared me, when that hand comes out of the grave and grabs that girl, I jumped. The shark in Jaws scared me.
There was a vampire movie out in the 80's I went to see it at the theater, alone ,the vampire climbed up the outside of a building in it.. It was stormy outside that day, there were severe storm warnings out. It creeped me out. After the movie, I went outside, the sky was orange, and it was very still.

I think the creepiest movie I've ever seen is "Silence of the Lambs." It wasn't so much scary as it was unsettling.
