I've done a little bit of research, and the only stuff I could find is that Ford bought the Land Rover series from BMW. I don't like Ford that much, that's why I'm still arguing with him.

hes full of bovine feces.

BMW is one of the most profitable automakers out there.. they bought out the MINI company a few years back.

Also, Ford is in dire straights at the moment is in no position to buy out any company whatsoever. Their decision to continue their focus on SUVs is leading them down the path to bankruptcy.

If youve read anything in the news, Ford recently laid off many of its workers in a vast restructuring attempt. Its been all over the news.

ford does NOT own BMW, BMW is an independent company they own rolls Royce and mini and manufacture engines for other companies amongst other things too. they brought land rover but before they could turn it around they were losing 1 million dollars a day on it so they sold it to ford

Ford has enough problems trying to run itself - it doesn't need a merger.

A large percentage of BMW's shares are owned by the Quandt family in Germany. I can never imagine them selling their shares to Ford, even if Ford had the cash to offer.

No, BMW sold its Land Rover division to Ford 6 years ago. That's it...

Your friend is lying. BMW has a contract with Ford, who is using their engines in some of their upscale vehicles. It's a business partnership--not a buy-out.

BMW is going strong, and is fully independent of Ford.

This is like that idiot who claimed Ford had purchased Ferrari. What bull****.
