very possible. Would also need to know how far along you are as it could have something to do with the baby repositioning him/herelf. This is a question ultimately better answered by a physician however hey I'm sure your doing all of that and are working with an obgyn, You probably just wanted to also put the question to us as we are "Yahoo Answes" and are here to help each other.. at least most of us are :). It definitely sounds like a possiblity that your time has come but you can't rule out false labor ofcourse until you see your doctor. Congradulations if it is and best of wishes to you and your family.

That sounds like false labour, aka Braxton Hicks contractions. With false labour, the contractions are unpredictable, and seem centered in the lower abdomen. True contractions often seem to start in the lower back and wrap around to the vagina, and they will persist, regardless of what you do.
It's hard to make a good diagnosis online. If your water breaks or you are able to vaguely predict when the next contraction will happen, then you should go to the hospital.

With me, labor was in my back. I think that you are having Braxon Hicks contractions. Relax....if it is labor, they won't go away and they will get really painful. Try walking around, that should stop them.

It could be. Time them. A good timer is at http://www.contractionmaster.com . If they're getting more intense over time or closer together, you're probably starting labor. Call your doctor or L&D if you're still unsure.

I would say it's definitely something you should pay close attention to in the next hour or so. If it gets worse, then yes you're probably in labor. That is, if you're to term.

could be braxton hicks contractions (practice contractions) that are a lot stronger when you've been pregnant before.
