we inevitably have poor lil hatchlings w/no feathers squawking at the bottom of our chimney. our fish and game office won't take them, and i don't know what to do w/them, bc i don't want to kill them. what can i do?

Call the local Forestry & Wildlife Dept. office near you. They'll most be able to get the birds out of your chimney properly and help you cap it so that no others can get there.

I'm pretty sure you can find them in the Yellow Pages, they are a branch of the govt.
One of our best friends is a Forester.

try a wildlife rehab in your area. Vets and the humane society in your area may have some phone numbers on file for you to call. Try to close off your chimney before next spring so this will not happen again.

well.. I don't know how to get them out of there.. but to keep them out of there... put a screen or something on top of your chimney so nothing can get down there.

you could alway climb up on the roof and nail down some screen you still get the draft but nothing gets in check it every few yrs
