I mean to be able to adapt to the coming environmental changes. Of course, I believe we do, I am curious as to what the consensus is and everybody's theories for or against.

PS All smart a$$ remarks, anything that does not resemble an answer or phishing for points will be reported.

yes, we are evolving. the sad thing is that we are evolving into a weaker species. the weak individuals that would naturally die out are not dying out because we do everything we can to make everyone survive. our species will continue to grow weaker and when some strong microbe comes along, its gonna kick our butts.

You are right in that Earth goes through cycles, though there are also trends which are more linear, and this may become ever more true with the increasing influence of humans over the destiny of our planet (for good and bad). Some of those natural cyclical trends will almost certainly bend or break under the weight of human influence.

But yes, I agree with you that humans are evolving, still. I'm convinced we always will (though the changes may not always happen at the same rates).

I would go into much more detail, but I've already done so on this very subject, so will just paste a link to my answer, which you can find at the top of this page, if you care to read it:

Of course humans evolve, why do you think people get cancer. Cancer is a genetic mutation that is trying to change the body from cell to cell. Why do you think whites have blond here- amino acid and so on.Why do you think Blacks are more likely to get sickle cell- to reverse the effects of malaria in Africa. Evolution is pretty much a fact, now did we come from monkeys... I dont know. There is going to a lot of religious people saying, there is no such thing as evolution, but they must realize that if 90 percent of the science community didn't believe in evolution. Biololgy would not exist- Sir issac newton would wrong. Einstein E=mc2 would be wrong because it unlocks the secrets that we all came from some big bang theory. There is 100 billion galaxies and no such thing as evolution- come people lets be real. Evoltion is a theory like gravity and electromagnetism- in science all these are pretty much fact.

Yes and no. Evolution is a process of fostering genetic diversity and then selecting traits based on their ability to combat selection pressure. Human beings have adapted themselves very well to combat normal selection pressures, so much so that we are living beyond our normal means of survival (meaning, in the "wild" we would like a lot less). This 'evolution' of the human race as it is today has created a race of people that are living the good life, so to speak. The cycle of the earth (or, life) is such that we aren't facing any major selection pressure right now - so we are allowed to thrive (mainly due to technology). This is fostering genetic diversity in our population - those that normally would not have lived in the past are passing on their genes. The genetic diversity should, within limits, increase. This diversity is necessary for the human race to overcome the next set of selection pressures - whatever that may be (I'm not sure anyone can guess what this is, otherwise we would be prepared for them). Once we have eliminated those genes and individuals unfit to survive in the new cycle, we can begin again.

It follows a tenet of evolution: you diversify, you thrive; you stagnate, you die.

Michel is right. We do still evolve, however, its not in the way that we have been taught in school where it is enough to change our species. For example, "small evolution" still exists, where people in higher level grounds adapt to breathing in thinner air as opposed to those who live in normal ground areas. However, natural selection is mainly what drove species to change and form over thousands of years. Animals are still evolving because certain elements of the environment that are changing still shape the way their species passes on genes, (Ie-the weak ones die). But for humans, we have reached a point where those things dont necessarily matter anymore. With civilization, the survival of the fittest doesnt really apply to humanity, and genes are always being mixed. Also, because of our ability to travel around the world, people from different cultures mix and in this way, genes (although, in a smaller way than mentioned before) are also mixed. Hope this helps!

Nope. The Earth, animals, plants, and humans are passing away. The further back in history you go the more plants and animals there are. Every day some plant or animal becomes extinct. No plant or animal has ever just appeared in all of history.

Past-more species.....Present-less species
If evolution is true it's broken.

Yes,
Actually I believe that there will be a time that human body will become non-biodegradable. You know why? Because most of our food nowadays contain preservatives. So when you die, you will be preserved I think.

however the Darwin's theory of evolution is false according to Holy Quran and Bible...
