If the war in Iraq was all about oil, why have the prices not gone down? Please don't accuse the US of price gouging, because prices are higher from Iran, who we do not get oil from.

I think i have the best answer to this question. Light sweet crude is higher because of geopolitical concerns. There is a 20 percent premium just because of that, and you have light sweet crude disruptions in Nigeria causing more concerns. The war was not for oil but to give the people in Iraq freedom and to stablize the middle east- Now I think the having a partnership with Iraq would be a great stratgic idea to face future conflicts. But it was mostly to stablize the middle east and to promore democracy and so on.

I don't no anyone talking about oil being the reason were in Iraq. I have heard, WMD's, religion, save the Iraq's from Saddam, revenge for Bush senor and 9 / 11. The truth be known, we are there because the President wont's us there. End of story.

The war in Iraq had many causes, one of which was the fear of Iraq getting control of too much oil. Fear, anger and frustration all played a part. American idealism also played a part, as did greed and opportunism. The world is a complicated mess, and it is a waste of time to try to simplify it with simple questions.

simple answer... because they make more money when the price goes up...

war in an oil area = higher oil prices due to fear over the stability of the supply

2 Bushes... 2 wars in the middle east... 2 period of record high gas prices... two periods of record high profits for oil companies...

sure it's just a coincidence...

you're looking at the situation as if oil companies/investors wanted low gas prices... that's silly
