Research your state's landlord tenant law. He has to go through a legal procedure which in itself can be time consuming to do. Your landlord tenant act will stipulate what time frame to carry out an eviction and what grace periods are allowed if any for rent be paid. Just search for your state and landlord tenant laws.

No, he doesn't have to give you any time to pay the rent. Your lease may give you some time before you are charged a late fee though.
It really depends on the law where you live, but in general as long as you pay you cannot be evicted for non-payment.
In some places however, you can be evicted for being constantly late with the rent if you are given the opportunity to cure (stop paying late) and you continue to do so. There is an official notification procedure (such as a notice to cease etc), and your landlord would have to take you to court in order to do this.
The law/procedure is different everywhere, so it would be best to find out the law in your area.

There are many different types of leases, so you'll have to check yours. Sometimes a 10 day grace period is allowed, which hopefully is included in yours. The eviction process can be quite lengthy though, and might give you time to get caught up. Good luck! I hope all works out for you!

read your agreement!!!!! Some states do have time periods.. Whats yours?? in Cal.
As long as you pay more than 1/2 let him taunt you to court! Cost him more to file / serve summons than just be patient!! Besides pending your record unlawful if any the judge will see that you are making a attempt to pay and record all the landlords harassment's etc.
in writing explain your hardship to him also and keep a copy
Good Luck!!

probably not if he has record of you being late on payment he can start the eviction process which typically gives you 30 days to leave ... but once he has the reason theres probably not much you can do to stop it ...
