I think it is. People identify you by labels. I identify myself as a weak atheist (someone who is waiting for a complete definition of "god") and will remain that way until its proven so i can chose from being a strong atheist or a theist instead. Some labels are just unnecessary like the ones you mentioned and need not be shouted out loud on to the public for all the wrong reasons. Politicians do this a lot and i simply hate them.

Labels are useful in instances where categorization is needed.
Labels require qualification, which means that the one must define what one means so that others understand that to which they refer.
For instance your question, has qualifiers so that I can clearly understand what you mean. I know that you are not referring to Jello, Ford, Levis, or some brand name.
Often, people use labels as an expedient tool to supplement lazy thought processing. It is often best to ask a person to be more specific about the label and why they choose to use that label. In other words ask them what they mean, so that you can better understand them. This better understanding can only help you, so that you can better help others.

Well, it seems that too many people try to take focus away from their own shortcomings by pointing at others. More of us should learn to lead by example. Simply label everyone with the same Label: "person".

labels just sucks and i see them as useless...people are so quick to judge these days and that is wrong....i think that is why we are on our way down a destructive path..i mean come on why do people feel the need to judge other people...i honestly think that some of them do it for fun..and just to get the attention off of them and it is so wrong...i don't think that society should judge and label people because it does not accomplish anything and often just leads to more and more conflict...but sadly that is how part of the human race is and always will be...

My guess is that you would refer to me as an old short, fat, bald-headed geezer.
I'm not so sure that I would label you anything. People just try to identify people so that they can remember them, especially if they are not like themselves. I'm not saying this is right. However, go to your pantry and take all the labels off of all the canned food. Now, try to identify what is in each can. Not easy is it?

Yes, because we in American need to listen to other people to form opinions. If we don't know who we are listening to we might form the wrong opinion. So, say we are republicans, if you are a democrat I will automatically know what you say is wrong without having to go through any kind of thought process. It makes voting easier.

Maybe they feel the need too, so they can find THEIR place in live!
I chose to be a loner - leading my own world within this crazy world!
People can do and say whatever they want as long as they leave me and mine alone.... And don't hurt the harmless that I know about!
