Funny you should mention this. I was matron of honor in a wedding on the fourth of July this year, and the event was videotaped, but I didn't know that until after the ceremony. I just got to watch the tape a few days ago.
I was surprised to watch myself - I haven't been in a video that I knew of since a 1990 family reunion. What got my attention was that I actually LIKED it. I liked the way I moved, my gait when I walked, the tilt of my head when I was listening to someone - all of it. There were a couple of times that I made some hand motions I thought were a little overboard, but oh well.
So, naturally, I had to dig out those 1990 tapes. I liked those, too! How odd! I've never been someone who was pleased with my image very much, so this surprised me.
I can only assume that as I have aged, I am a lot less critical of myself.
Grin.

Once I was taking a speech class and we had to give a three minute speech or teach something. This was videotaped so the rest of te class could critique it and we could see for ourselves our good points and bad points. Needless to say, when it came to my turn, I thought that I would teach something, rather than make a speech because I thought that that would be easier and that I would impress everyone with my superior abilities.(Ha).
Well, nothing went as planned! I got up to do my thing and my mind froze and went blank and I was staring at the ceiling trying to get a thoughts to come out and this was all being taped!!! I did everything that the instructor said not to do when you are giving a presentation, speaking, or teaching a class. Boy! was I embarrassed!
Nevertheless, I did pass this class and give everyone else a good laugh in the process.

Well, the rare occassions when I actually saw myself on video, I realized much that I would have a hard time seeing if I were thinking or experiencing myself from "inside." These are the usual themes:
1) I don't really look as exposed/vulnerable (emotionally), or as awkward as how I feel. I am more "opaque" than I realize.
2) My manner of speaking and verbal eloquence is less impressive than other people would have me believe. Or perhaps I have higher expectations of myself.
3) I am less attractive and likeable than how I would think and like. I like myself less when I see myself from outside. hehe.

When I was younger my parents videotaped me after my new baby was born. I noticed my mannerisms were very similar to those of Princess Diana. I thought it was kind of weird, but ok too.

Wow. It was first many many years ago. I speak a lot softer and deeper than I feel like I do. But my eyes really are pretty and striking like people tell me. Also, I realized I needed to make my eyebrow pencil a little darker.
