for my birthday my parents are wanting to take my to get my nose pierced. we want to make sure we go to somewhere good. so it doesnt get infected or messed up or anthing. any advice on how to find out a places credentials.

Check safepiercing.org and use their shop locator. It is the APP website (associateion of professional piercers).
Once you find a shop or 2 that you want to check out you should call first to ask basic questions like what kind of jewelry do you offer for a nostril piercing (captive bead ring or nostril screw) and how much is it. If you like how they answer a simple question you should visit the shop in person so you can meet the piercer(s) and ask any and all questions you may have. You can ask to see portfolios of new and healed piercings as well as ask for mold spore tests on their autoclave (sterilization machine). As long as the shop is gracious and seems knowledgeable, then you likely have found a good shop. Also, steer clear of any shops that offer gunned peircings of any kind. Make sure their aftercare is either using Satin or Provon soap or sea salt soaks. Anyone that recomends alcohol, bactine, peroxide or neosporin does not put time and effort into keeping aftercare methods up to date.
Never let price be the deciding factor.

good body piercing places will have their certificates posted on the wall of their shop where you can read it. Do not use salt water to clean. They will tell you how to prevent an infection and what to use to cleamse and take care of it. Infection on nose is pretty rare as it is (the nose) all cartiledge. Hope this has helped .

me i dont have my nose pierced but i have friends that do i want one but my parents say no no no but make sure wherever you go it doesnt look like a shab place and make sure that the nedles are clean or you can get really badly infected. Make sure after you get it keep it clean and do not play with it

why do you want to add another hole to your body? I just think that you shouldn't add anything to your body that you werent born with. how long will you have that pierceing? all your life or untill you get tired of it? Just leave your self alone im sure you look good without it.

lemming, go to the mall and I mean that because places like Piercing Pogoda have been doing that for years, and then make sure you keep the hole clean as per their instructions after you get it done.

farmers put rings in hog's snouts to keep them from rooting. you really wanna look like that ???? besides, if you sneeze you'll launch the thing and put someone's eye out.

yes clean it with normal saline type solution. if it starts to red red and very tender use triple antibiotic ointment also.
